I listened to a speaker the other week talking about commitment. He used the following analogy with an Egg McMuffin:
The speaker asked his audience if they knew what the two main ingredients in an egg mcmuffin were. Most People answered “Canadian bacon, cheese and egg” or sausage, cheese and egg. The speaker went on with his speech saying “Everyone knows the Chicken was somehow involved, so was the Cow, but “the Pig was the only one really committed.”
How many have been committed in a relationship where only one person was involved? How many have seen marriages that were the same? I’ve been the Pig in several egg mcmuffin relationships and I find you have to learn not to add the eggs, or take home the cows, no matter how tempting they may be.
The same can be said for business and clubs. Once again I was the committed one and it seemed like there were a lot of Eggs. I find most people only care about one thing and that is themselves. Eliminating Eggs from your life is healthy, and dairy products are the same, now I know why. Our club started throwing out eggs and cows in our kayak club. I have learned to do the same in relationships. Involvement never accomplishes anything long term, but commitment can change a world, whether in business or personal life.
